The key to success !

neckwear magnifier

That's a bit of a banal headline, I know, but I like it so I'm going to keep it...

You are probably wondering what happened to me and if I decided to become some sort of a couch... ha ha ! well, NO !  I'm still me.

What I want to write about today is something very basic and simple, something I find is the key to successfully wire crocheting with wires ! when people ask if I think they will be able to follow my wire crochet patterns and if their work will end up looking like mine, I tell them that the method is rather simple and that the key is not so much in their hands but in their eyes ! yes, the key is being able to clearly see the wire and the hook, this does not mean that people prescription glasses won't manage to wire crochet, they just need to verify that the prescription is up to date.

I've seen it so many times, ladies coming to my workshop saying, "ho... I see just fine without glasses, I can mange" or in some case "I have a pair lying around somewhere, but I rarely use it"

Well, know that, to successfully wire crochet in the invisible spool knitting technique you MUST see what you're doing, the wires are delicate and the hook is tiny, and when you are just starting if you cant see where you support the wire, or what direction the hook is, it won't work :)

Because my own eye sight is not what it used to be, and because I've seen class participants turn from "struggling" to "successful" thanks for magnifiers r correct glasses, I'm always on the hunt for comfortable seeing aids.

In the last couple of months I have been carrying in my studio a neckwear magnifier that enables me to grab it whenever I need a more close look at a detail, so although I originally sourced them for my workshop participants, one already has my name on it ;)

I'm sure I wrote about it sometime in the past, but in case you missed it, always keep in mind that the best light to wire crochet in, is daylight ! there is no replacement for  that,  but if you hear of one do tell ! the thing is, that some of you live in countries where daylight is rare in the winter,  and others are just not free to wire crochet during the daytime, so a magnifier could come of help.

The specific Magnifier I currently use can also be folded and function as a table top magnifier, and when you have lack of light you can install batteries and small led light will come to your assistance.
