Keep it simple - a new geometric wire crochet necklace

Those of you that are with me for a while must have already heard me say this, those of you that haven't actually hear it must have noticed it, I LOVE simplicity, in my view simple is clear, simple is easy, simple is fun and we should enjoy every moment ;) don't get me wrong, I'm not saying challenges can't be fun too, but simplicity has its charm.

So today I'm going to share with you s super simple and easy to make necklace design, it can even be a total beginners projects.

The design is based on the S size ISK starter that has 12 gates and creates approx 0.6" / 15mm diameter tubes. The first necklace I made was in green shades, but I immediately had to check it out in other shades too, it is so fun and easy that you can experiment rather easily other shades too, and although it goes without saying, I will say it ...  there are endless color combinations in which you can make this geometric necklace.

To complete these necklaces you will require the following tools and materials :

  1. ISK starter – S
  2. Crochet Hook size 0.75/ 0.6/1
  3. Telescopic cable chain - the one here is 48cm / 18.9"
  4. Wires
  5. Wire cutter

Begin by making stripes of 3.54" / 9cm after they have been stretched, for me this means approx 30 rows, but as you already know, it will vary according the tension of your work. Crochet 3 or 4 of these elements in the color scheme you desire, if you are struggling with color choices, here are a few themed suggestions I prepared that you can follow:

  1. Greens : A1 Bitter Lemon+ B3 Dark green +A5 Ash Gray + A4 Steel Gray
  2. Blues : B5 Navy Blue  + B4 Baby Blue +B6 Charcoal + A4 Steel Gray
  3. Autumn : E1 Gold  + E5 Red +E2 Antique Gold  + E4 Spicy Orange
  4. Grays : A5 Ash Gray + A4 Steel Gray  +A2 Silver + A6 Black
  5. Purples : D5 purple + D6 Violet + A4 Steel Gray + A6 Black

Once you have these 4 flattened and stretched straps,

Fold them as if you were doing origami to create the corners, make sure they are symmetric, no need to measure or anything, visual control is good enough.

Use your hook to twist the ends loops facing sideward's

String the pieces on your cable chain in the order you fancy, if you are not happy with it you can take them off and string them again in a different order, which makes me realize you can actually make an assortment of rectangles and string them each day with the colors that suit your mood.

And you are done !

If you don’t have a cable chain you can use any other chain that will go through the loops just keep in mind tat if you assemble the end after you string the elements you will not be able to replace them as easy as with the telescopic cable chain.

Psssst... You can make other forms with this same idea...

Love,

Yael aka Yoola
