It's SUKOT holiday now in Israel and although I'm an atheist I'm still Jewish born and there are some fun traditions I'm happy to revive.
Without going into the religious part of things, basically because I know very little about it, there is a tradition of building a temporary shed especially for the holiday, the shed roof gets covered with branches so you can see the stars, and the walls are covered with sheets, sort of a tent, as a child I loved building tents, like most kids I guess, at least the kids from when there were no smartphones.
What was even more fun than setting up the Succah was decorating it, there is a custom of decorating it with paper decorations, a paradise holiday for crafters, most decorations if not all were made of paper, complex paper cuts and long paper chains.
In the last couple of days I was playing with the round loom on the new version of the link making set, and suddenly realized the chains I was making are similar to those Succah decorations I used to make as a child . It's probably a coincident I made them this time of year or maybe not ? in any case it was nice to have these memories come back to me.
Love,
Yoola
